What it can work out
Child cost worksheet
List your child's costs by category: school fees, school extras, food, clothing, medical and medical aid, transport, the child's share of housing, childcare, activities and other. Yearly and once-off costs are turned into monthly amounts. You get a table, a monthly and a yearly total, and a list of the categories you have not filled in yet.
Fair share split
Give the total monthly child costs and each parent's net monthly income. Each parent's share follows their share of the two incomes added together. For example, costs of R6,000 and incomes of R20,000 and R10,000 give R4,000 for Parent A and R2,000 for Parent B. Money the child already gets, such as a grant, is taken off first.
Maintenance arrears tally
Give the amount in the order, the month it started, any yearly increase, and what was paid each month. You get a month by month table of what was due, what was paid and what is short, the total arrears to date, and the months fully missed or paid short. No interest is added. A court may also add interest on arrears.
South African courts decide maintenance on the child's needs and each parent's means. There is no fixed formula. This is an estimate to help you prepare, not legal advice and not what a court will order.
How to add it
Claude: open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Use this address:
